5 wooden nesting dolls adorned with copper, ink, and shellac

Five elongated, egg-shaped nesting dolls - sleek, smooth, and finished in a high gloss - stand adorned with accents of copper, ink, and shellac.  Their elegant forms invite touch and interaction, evoking both sophistication and intimacy.

Each doll nests within another, reinforcing the physical and conceptual layering of identity rolls , and relationships.  Across the surface of each is a stamped image of two men in positions that straddle tenderness and taboo.

HELPING HANDS explores the complexities of physical touch and the social meanings we project onto it—what is nurturing, what is erotic, and where the line blurs. The nesting design furthers this exploration of duality. When the dolls are opened, the two male figures are split apart. The dominant figure aligns with the upper half of the doll; the passive with the lower—inviting reflection on the sexual and societal roles of “top” and “bottom.”
