Joakim Andreasson (creative director of Tom of Finland Store) is pleased to present the first online retrospective of Jack Pierson’s Tomorrow’s Man, the artist’s ongoing series of publications Pierson has since developed in collaboration with contemporary artists since 2014.
The title, Tomorrow’s Man, comes from an infamous bodybuilding magazine from the 1950’s and 60’s. Re-appropriating the publication’s title as well as its retro bodybuilding aesthetic, Pierson takes viewers on a dizzying visual journey encompassing the full spectrum of cultural references combining archive material with contributions from selected artists, illustrators and writers.
Jack Pierson: Tomorrow’s Man includes works and contributions to date by Veralyn Behenna, Dennish Balk, Brian Calvin, David Carrino, Alejandro Cesarco, David Colman, Cali Dewitt, Pat de Groot, Florence Derive, Jeff Elrod, Peter Fend, Hugo Guinness, Trevor Hernandez, Alex Jovonovich, Elizabeth Kley, Liz Larner, Dan McCarthy, Paulo Montiero, Mark Morrisroe, Tibi Tibi Neispiel, Mel Odom, Om from India, Jimmy Paul, Lily Stockman, Ryan Sullivan, Channing Tatum, Richard Tinkler, John Tottenham, Andy Warhol and Evan Whale.
All four titles of Tomorrow’s Man are co-edited and published by Roger Bywater.
This online exhibition is organized in conjunction with the release of Tomorrow’s Man 4. Physical exhibitions of Tomorrow’s Man have been on view at Regen Projects (Los Angeles, 2017) and Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac (Paris, 2014).
